I'm not sure I understand your question. Here is a picture of the front before I added the pink sash.
After I sandwiched the top/batt/backing I free motion quilted the feather circles on the Dresden plates first. Second I free motion quilted the sash. After marking the cross hatch around the whole Dresdens in a 2" diagonal grid with a disappearing pen, I used my walking foot to quilt this part. Same in the border with an 1.5" grid and the corners in a 1" diagonal grid. Lastly I did the center candle wicked flower in another diagonal grid, skipping over the flowers and leaves.
I had appliquéd the extra Dresden on the back before I sandwiched it. I totally ignored it while quilting the front. And I hand appliquéd the label in the center of the back Dresden after the front was quilted and I had finished binding it.
Does this make any sense and answer your question?
