I love the jelly rolls with appliques. One of my plans is to make simple quilts and make velcro animals to add all over them, plus extra velcro dots so the objects can be moved around. I could see that Christmas quilt with velcro Santa and reindeer, or the Easter bunny with velcro animals.
I think jellyroll with your own fabrics would be great, the more random the better.
