plaid shirts and plaid yardage were donated to our non-profit Quilts From the Heart for quilts. The shirts were damaged to prevent resale. If the shirt could be repaired, we got permission from the donor to repair and give to charity. The shirts went to Haiti, Romania, and Tajikistan (sp) and were given to school social workers to distribute to indigent children. The buttons were also recycled and we cut the shirts up and made quilts. My sister is on her 11th Adventures in plaid quilt and I have made crazy quilts using Quilting from the heartland templates/pattern, several hexagon quilts and string quilts. We did edit the collection of plaid and recycled anything that had polyester in it and was "schlocky". those pieces went into dog beds.
