My quilting friends keep wondering why I obsess over saving their little scraps. "What are you going to do with them?" Well, your technique is the answer! Just preparing 18x20 pieces with the scraps sewn on, that process, opens up a lot of possibilities. I love it =)

EDIT: OH OH I GET IT NOW! Basically, you laid down one 18x20, sprinkled on some scraps, laid on another 18x20, then quilted the sandwich. Afterward, you cut open each little quilt box in an "X" so the scraps show through. Brilliant!!! I'm thinking use thin white for the first layer, then could just make a lining separately when I use the sandwiched piece. These would be great for throw pillows or stuffed animals. Very cool.
