That's a great machine! I traded my 1030 for a newer Bernina 230 several years ago, just just to get a blanket stitch for applique. You'll know if it needs a service if you look in the take-up lever, and there's a thread tangle. There were a few Berninas in that series that had a bad light switch. So when they come through the shop, we routinely by-pass the switch, so the light comes on when you turn the machine on. Other than that, they're pretty awesome!
