They are certainly designed to be quilt labels, but that doesn't mean you have to use them for that purpose. I would probably get a background fabric with a little bit of shimmer like Robert Kaufman's Radiance fabric in Ivory and then maybe quilt with a holographic thread like Superior #111 (http://www.superiorthreads.com/shop/...ystal-400-yds/) or even a silver metallic like their #000 (https://www.superiorthreads.com/shop...ilver-500-yds/).

Because I love applique so much, I'd probably just cut with a 1/4" seam allowance all the way around & use the different pieces/elements as appliques. However, I could just as easily see piecing the squares if you can find a layout that works -- maybe the largest squares in the center -- or possibly 4 circles with enough beige around them to turn into a square. All the open space in the center of the "labels" would make the perfect canvas for beautiful holiday quilting!
