I don't think she's still doing it, but you might want to look at the Soy Amado quilts. The results were great.

People donated blocks, she requested a standard size of 12 1/2" that were already quilted. If blocks were bigger, then cut them down to size. If smaller, add borders to bring them up to size. Then she joined the QAYG blocks and donated them to orphanages. I had several beautiful blocks that were orphans. I had to bring them up to size, quilt them, and off they went. The quilts were beautiful.
She has a "Flipagram" on that page that shows a lot of the quilts and mind boggling stacks of QAYG blocks and binding that people sent to her.
