I like them both but think I prefer the one without borders. My tip for you is to make the half square triangles Oversized, sew and then trim. Always start with your square 1" larger than your FINISHED HST size. E.g. If you want to make a 4" white and pink HST, cut one pink and one white 5" square. Mark the diagonal from corner to corner and sew 1/4" on each side of that line. Cut on the diagonal, press to the dark, and then trim to 4 1/2". They will be perfect. In your quilt, I would figure out how many of the different color combinations you need, e.g. 10 pink/white, 8 blue/white, etc. I would use the 8 at a time method for as many as I could (check Lynn Wilder's site). Enclosed is a crude drawing. Basically, add 1" to your FINISHED HST size and multiply by 2 to get the size squares you need to start with. Then sew as shown on dotted lines and cut on heavy lines (A, B, and diagonal lines). Press to dark and then trim to correct UNFINISHED size. Perfect HSTs. You will love this site. Also, want to add my tip is to use painters blue tape when trimming the HST to prevent the ruler from slipping. Double fold a piece of the tape and put it on the ruler so it is on the low side of the HST, trim that side (can do about 15 before you need to change the tape). Then rotate the HSTs to trim the other side, putting the tape again on the low side. Used this method before I got Bloc Loc rulers. They are one thing I would invest in. Expensive but wonderful investment.
