Surprise! in the mail today
While in NY last month, a friend heard me going on and on about quilting, this board, my plans, dotcomdotcom's works of art, etc. etc. Though not a quilter or sewist, friend remembered a show of quilts she attended (last year I think) at the Armory in Manhattan. Showed me photos she took there, & they were beautiful, what a show I missed...
Fast forward: today, what arrives in the mail but a package addressed to me. I thought, oh no, I'm not expecting anything, hope it's not some regrettable impulse buy I'd forgotten about...
Well - it was the hardcover catalog to that show. I just about fell out. It's a gorgeously printed book with so many full-page reproductions of the quilts, all red-and-white, belonging to a single collector. I love quilts, and I love history, and these quilts span 3 centuries.
Just one book - that's all it took to send me over the moon. Bless my friend.
