To be fair, I wasn't a QB-er until I got the machine and was trying to figure out
what I'd just picked up. Was it the curbside ad with the school desks and Christmas tree? I sent my husband to snag it at noon on Sunday. It was seriously about a mile from my house.
And honestly, I
don't know what it's worth is overall. I just know that the old metal ones have always run nicer than my 2002 Singer - which I
finally got a professional to agree with me has a problem with the tension and with thread nesting (after five years of trouble) - and I can't afford to shell out a $70 service fee to return it to mediocre running condition. I was super jazzed to find a free one and even more excited to find that it has feed dog controls (my old machine did not). But I do intend to love it and sew with it and give it a good home.
(What I'm less excited about is that I just got a whole set of presser feet for the low-shank Singer, and now I need new, high-shank feet.)
