I always do tee shirt quilts as rag quilts. I cut my squares about twelve inches square and use the back of the shirt as the back of the quilt.

I did one where I put a piece of flannel between the front and back of the shirt and sewed thru all the layers at once. It made the quilt pretty heavy.
