I wanted to see the pattern, so looked it up on Google Images. Found a blog post about a beginner who made the quilt.
http://hiddentreasurecrafts.com/flying-home-quilt/ The animal geese are foundation paper pieced. You might want to try foundation paper piecing or take a class on that before you commit. Some of us love paper piecing and some of us don't.
