This may sound completely counter-intuitive to the other comments here, but here goes my idea....
Since you seem to have named it "Plum Ugly", I would dig through my stash and find the ugliest material that I have on hand and use that for the border.
I truly think the scrappy aspect of the rest of the quilt will actually pull the attention away from the ugly fabric and make it fit with the quilt... and it would be especially appropriate if the "ugly" fabric was purple/plum/puce.
This way, you get that ugly out of your stash, you have a "valid" reason for the name, and you have the larger quilt you were wanting.

BTW, I don't think it's ugly at all!!!
