These calls are not just annoying they can bring financial disaster especially for the elderly, folks with limited English language skills, or the mentally challenged. We attended a Senior Scam program just recently and it was scary the number of people who had fallen prey to these and other scams including ones claiming to be the police department, foreign consulates, etc. If you do not initiate the call, do not give any information, ask lots of questions and give NO personal information.
