I have three button boxes from a friend, and two family members that are no longer with us. I have my mom's old banking bag with a travel iron I use on retreats. There is a covered micassa china dish I keep the long quilting pins of my deceased mom. The rest of her sewing notions I gave to my ten year old niece who now sews like a champ with her own machine.
My machine cover has bits of fabric from my mother and miss matlock's stash. She was an amazing woman who experienced the prejudices of the sixties first hand. Oh how I loved being with her. What stories she could tell of her life and what a wonderful cook!
Of course I have family photos and my wonderful companions, my sewing machines.
