No no, don't use new dryer sheets lol. the ones I use have already been used and have nothing in them. In fact they even have been ironed. I don't rip them away. they just stay as they are so thin. Remember, when doing foundation piecing, if it's paper, you tear it off, if it's a fabric background, you leave it on, usually muslin is used. Normally the muslin will make the quilt heavier but with the dryer sheets it's very light.
