If you are making an heirloom then be sure to use hand quilting thread. Take a spool of regular thread and try to break the thread. Compare that to hand quilting thread and you will notice a big difference. I just finished a SBS for my great granddaughter and I outlined the figures and I quilted the sashes. I wanted the figures to be the eye catcher.
