I solved the height issue with folding tables that I got at Sam's that adjust to 3 different heights. They look like this.

To add greater flexibility I got 4 pieces of 1x6 cut to a little longer than the spread of the front to back leg distance. This allows me to put one or two boards under the legs to adjust the height even more. The are wonderful at the highest point for cutting and I have another one that I put to a low point for my machine. They also fold compactly when not in use.
