It has the knee lift and I have never even taken it out from under the tray. Makes my life easier to not have to try and adjust my speed with my foot. That little CS6000i has sewn many quilts and gone on numerous retreats. I would not be without it. If it dies I will try to get another one. I like my new Brother also but it is too big for me to tote.
I also recommend this as a great starter machine. The option to sew without the pedal works very well and you set the speed you want to sew. Check out reviews online of the Brother CS6000i, and also put CS6000i into the search feature here on the quilting board. Many people are happy with this little machine, and it's a great price.
