I have an old sewing machine cabinet that I got off Craigslist for $25 (no sewing machine in it). It looks like it was made in the late 60's/early 70's (just the type of "fake" wood reminds me of that era). My "main" machine sits on it.
A gazillion years ago, I bought a fold-up sewing table from FingerHut. It had a section that would come up let your sewing machine "nest" inside, so you have a larger flat area all around the machine. Since it was made from sawdust, glue, and fake wood laminate, it's showing some age, so that's where my seldom-used serger sits... along with a magnetic pin catcher, my CD-player, two jellyrolls and two layer cakes.

Since I'm pretty hard on furniture, I find that buying something old from antique store, GoodWill, CraigsList, wherever, I end up getting a better quality product for far less money.
That leaves me more money for fabric (like I need more fabric! )
