I think this may work...she uses a regualr size thread spool, and uses a file to file down the top of the sppol, then sticks it inside the cone. she has this gadget on top of her little janome Gem. and it works perfectly!
She collect threads old spools at garage sales..but she claims the inside spool comes out..although i couldn't get it out to show you more of the spool..sorry.
