I still think the easiest way to see what kind of possible triangles you'll get, is to place a hinged mirror (held open at about a 60 degree angle, so you can see 6 reflected images in it) along the selvage and slowly slide it along the selvage - say about 3 - 4" in from the selvage. This will really show you what kind of hexs you'll get. Just moving it in a bit will give you a larger triangle thus a larger hexagon in the end.
