Welcome from the Sho-Me State - Missouri. If you have even done garment sewing, then you will do fine. If not, then just make very simple quilt blocks and you will gain the confidence and experience. Even though I was an experienced garment sewer, my first quilt is still unfinished some 40+ years. My daughter took it home recently to put the binding on it, but I told her not to bother, because I am sure that it will not survive its first washing, due to my picking out a very complicated block and then not following the directions. It was supposed to be pieced and I made it into an applique - which will probably come off in the washer.
