I'm sorry you're having sadness over the BSR. I have the same machine and I never use the BSR. I just learned to free motion quilt without it. I never knew what people see in this feature. I think it's faulty too. I got uneven stitches the couple of times I took it out for practice so I just don't use it. They say it does better on light colored fabrics because the sensor eye can see the threads in the cloth better but I practiced on white muslin.
But, I LOVE the machine anyway. If it only had the wider stitch width of their more premium machines and a low bobbin warning it would be the best thing since sliced bread as far as I'm concerned. I hope you learn to love the other features, otherwise, it's not like you'd have trouble selling it for quite a bit.
