When I FMQ...there no "pushing" as you describe...it should all be very easy to move around...I am wondering if you aren't gathering your quilt sandwich in such a way that it it easy to move? You should have a very clear area, no matter what machine, or what your set up, as far tables, etc...when you get you fabric sandwich under your needle, you need to make sure that the rest of the quilt isn't hanging up on something..you should be able to move your quilt under the needle very easily. I don't think any "gizmo" will help..you need to really get your area ready..that will help more than anything.
