I remember applying the tinsel as the most tedious and time consuming part of decorating the tree. ONLY Dad was allowed to do it, as he patiently placed the strands one by one. We kids just threw it on in gobs. Haven't seen tinsel in years... I like the look of the tree without it, myself, but to my parents the tree wasn't complete without the tinsel.
