When I was finished watching it, I thought of my daughter. She's 29 now, but there was a time in high school when she was going through a somewhat dark phase. She died her hair black, wore black. Spent a lot of time in her room.
I watched her closely, but never got a sign that an intervention was needed.
She skipped the 8th grade - asked me and I told her if she did all that was involved to do this, then it was ok with me. She was off for 6 mos because of scoliosis surgery when she was a sophomore, but still graduated a year ahead and was 3rd in her class.
She got her RN degree and took classes while she worked that she needed to apply to med school. It seems med school may no longer be her goal, but said she's meeting whatever the college said she needs to meet to take graduate classes. (All through this, she had a 4.0)
She never made quilts, but was very artistically talented. Rock music is her thing too.
I have an example of a drawing she made in college, typical of her art. I still sort of keep an eye on her, as much as possible because she moved out, but she says she and her boyfriend, an educator type, are going to get married.
