When they eliminated Home Ec from public schools so many years ago, they robbed children of the opportunity to learn to sew and cook. And now we see that today's adults don't know anything about either. Most people are helpless to even sew on a button when it falls off their made-in-China clothing. And so many meals are eaten out that the kitchens in new houses are built smaller and smaller. They have lost their importance.
The same can be said for woodworking and auto shop that used to be taught in high school, but no longer is. It's such a shame.
I know that sewing isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea, but they should at least have the chance to find that out. Kudos to those that take the time to expose others to the joy we have in making things.
