When I made Quillows, I tried to plan the thread and blanket top to accommodate top stitching of the pillow edges. Some people just stitch the pillow part to the one piece of fabric but I always top stitched the 2 edges right through the whole sandwich at the end of construction. It worked well to plan the quilting to hide the 2 pillow stitching lines. Be aware, some people are going to use the pillow part for their feet so they have to be sturdy.
