I'm making a fusible applique table runner and want to use fusible batting. Do I fuse the batting to the backing or the top? I want to stitch around the applique thru all layers and thought the fusible would work best. Also since this is a first for me, the instructions said cut the square a 1/2" bigger then trim after the applique is fused? Should I wait to trim after its quilted or will that be harder to square up to 12 1/2" block?
