I love the glue method. I clamp my backing to a kitchen table top. lay on my batting to position. pull half of it back and I just put the glue right on the backing fabric. Then put the batting back in place and smooth it. pull back the other half and repeat. Then I put the top on for positioning because part of the quilt flows over the sides of the table. Basically I repeat the same steps as above except I'm putting the glue on the batting this time around. smoothing the top. I like to let that dry for a couple of hours or even over night. then the next day I can move the quilt around and glue the edges that hung over the side of the table. I have used an iron to help dry it quicker. Yes you can see the glue on the fabrics but don't worry it washes out. Have had no trouble with needles breaking or getting gummy.
