Sailorwoman, if you are planning something like this I would not make that change:

The reason it's a problem is because half of your increases on the lone star are on the diagonal, making the real increase .088402 instead of .125 (1/8"). Since all your log cabin increases are on the straight, it's increases will all be the full 1/8".

That's the math reason you should not change your cutting dimensions.
