I agree, especially the most recent incarnation, the Special Edition. #1 - no APC stitch plate to worry about like the 7700, #2 - easy-change three hole straight stitch plate that is designed for 1/4" seam piecing (unlike either the 7700 or the original 8900), #3 - easy-set bobbin.

I have the original red 7700 and do like it, but if I was shopping for a new Janome I would be looking at the 8900SE.
