Default Scrap organization

In November I organized my scraps. They had been sorted by color, but the drawers were overflowing with bits and pieces that were a wrinkled mess. So I went to work. I thought I would do it a little at a time, but I became obsessed with getting it done. I suppose I spent 30 hours or more. Everything a fat eighth and over was ironed, folded and put into drawers by color. Anything less that that was cut into 1.5" squares, 2.5" squares, 2" strips, 2.5" strips and many lengths of 1.5" strips that were for log cabin blocks (2.5" to 12.5" long). I also saved any "strings" (pieces at least 5" long and less than 1.5" wide).

I made a log cabin block just to see how it would look. But of course, I became obsessed with making those, so here is my first quilt top made from those 1.5" strips.

And I made a few string blocks from Bonnie Hunter's pattern String-X. I now have 21 of those out of the 48 I need.

I really feel I have accomplished a lot and I have spent no money. It's a good way to start the new year.
