I'd say another one of the hard parts of this method is to decide which way to have the triangle face to make the hexagon. As you said, you can turn the triangle one time and get another totally different pattern. I preview mine with a hinged mirror, before deciding which way to make a set of triangles. You'll probably still be surprised tho, in the end. There's no right or wrong way to do it, as well as no right or wrong way to arrange them on the design wall.
