Yes, each block is totally complete before it's joined together. Not exactly like a QAYG. Once the block is done, the batting and backing is trimmed away, the 1/4" remaining in the top is stitched together, and then the sashing is applied to the back to cover the batting/backing raw edges. You really can't tell but the sashing is topstitched (from the back) using a clear poly thread so it isn't noticeable from the front. Like I mentioned, it's tedious, but the result is beautiful.
