I don't think there are any extra rows, as

Only that the alternate blocks are done in reverse colour/fabric placement.
Whereas
Quilterdale's photo has every block (group of four smaller blocks) the same
and when they come together, that incredible secondary pattern shows up.
Does anyone agree with me?
I agree, it has 3 rows to each block with 4 blocks connecting to form the design. The red and white quilt has the colors alternating in the blocks but she has another picture showing the colors all alike in the blocks which I like better.
