Connecting threads jellyroll may not be 40 strips. They list how many fabrics are in them, but not number of strips. Look at their listing, they usually tell you how many yards of fabric are in them. As I recall, they charge the same per yard for precuts as what they charge by the yard, so it may still be a good deal even if it doesn't have the usual number of strips.
