Long ago I made placemats that could be easily wiped off. I didn't quilt them. I just cut themout with rounded corners. I bought some naugahyde from a specialty store - like for upholstery or car upholstery It was so long ago I don't remember where it was. These have lasted years. I can wash them if they get soaked, as with spilled milk. Life with children was much easier. BTW: the 'kids' are now 49 & 45.
