Default Steaming fabric with a dryer setting

Hello,
I just bought a kit for a quilt and of course it states not to pre wash the fabric as some pieces are rather small. I was wondering though if I might be able to put them in a dryer bag and put them in my dryer on the steam setting. My purpose for this is to pre-shrink and fabric before cutting. Do you think it would still ravel and maybe bleed? The fabric is by Jinny Beyer and are batiks. I am not sure batiks shrink much as from what I understand, hot water is used in the dying process, so maybe this isn't even necessary. Any thoughts?
Thank You
