How about appliquing a small butterfly over the cut? It would be a whimsical design element you wouldn't have to repeat on each flower. Butterflies flit from flower to flower. There only needs to be one butterfly. If need be, embellish the butterfly with a little embroidery. Antenna and eyes might be nice. When you are done, you will like it and be proud of yourself.
