We always have to be on guard don't we!
One of the reasons that I like using washable glue in the bottle is that it isn't a spray and I don't have to worry about the mess of overspray getting on things or fumes. I think of glue basting as an alternative to pin basting or thread basting. When you pin or thread baste you don't cover the entire surface but rather pins or lines of stitching strategically placed. The same with glue basting. I don't cover the whole surface but squiggle it on in a zig zag fashion in a thin stream. It's quick, easy and not messy. I put it on the batting so it doesn't soak through to the surface beneath and then just smooth my backing or top over it. I find the washable glue I get at Dollar General (their brand) which is 2 bottles for $1 works great and so economical.
