I remember when using a rotary cutter and rulers instead of templates was considered 'cheating'.
Then there came the "machine quilting is cheating" dictum.
Neither of them were true, just different.
Make your quilt YOUR way and be pleased with it. Calling the fabric "efficiency quilting" instead of "cheating" might help.
