coming near KC? north of us is Hamilton,MO home of Missouri Star Quilt Co, then in Park Hill, MO (closer to KC, south of Hamilton) is a shop which I'm blanking on the name--Park Hill is a quaint town. From there cross the Missouri River into Leavenworth, KS--VERY historic--can't get on the Army Base there without prior clearance, they also have quilt shop and a very historic town--from the 1850's. Head south to KC and there's Prairie Points in Shawnee, KS; Quilters Haven in Olathe KS; Lil Red Hen in Paola, KS and swinging over to Lee's Summit, Mo is another quilt shop. If you head west from Paola instead there is Quilted Paradise in Baldwin City. ALL these places are very historic--THIS is where the Civil War actually started in the 1850's with "Bleeding Kansas". Further west in Lawrence, KS (Quantrill's Raid) is Sarah's Fabrics. Kansas City is also the home to the WWI National History Museum/Liberty Memorial, Union Station (where there were gangster shoot outs in the 20's; and hobby train displays along with the Science Museum); The Kemper & Nelson Museums of Art----those are just some starters for this area. AND if you get here by June 15-17 you can go to the Kansas City Regional Quilt Fest (put on by 15 area guilds--all volunteer help and last one (biannual so 2015) there were about 10,000 attendees. So head out here in June!
