The result reminds me a little bit of how you can mix up pieces using the disappearing 9-patch idea. Thanks for sharing it! I can see a lot of examples by googling 'turning twenty quilt.' I'm leaning toward an idea of just cutting squares and seeing what I come up with pattern-wise. The FQ is not a square, of course, but saving the leftover for some type of strip quilt could be an option.
