I had it done, because my mother's background is intriguing. She was given as an infant to a couple who raised her as theirs. Her birth mother had her out of wedlock, fathered by her employer apparently. She was the housekeeper for a man who had married a wealthy widow in our town. He was a colorful character acc. to all I can find. This is a pretty certain fact, so I was curious about him. I got to his birth in Canada, but there's a huge gap when he "disappeared" until he died in 1952. Hmmmm! Have totally hit a roadblock. I was 42% Scandinavian and 30% Irish, which I knew. My dad's background is almost 100% Irish.
