Yes,rteacher sorting donated scraps takes a lot of time...I had 3 day mess in my living room as I sorted through 2 bags a couple of weeks ago, but have since made a bunch of solid scrappy blocks from those pieces...have a bunch of HST cutoffs to use in a project I have started, too.
