Hi, quilterpurpledog. I used several different brands of polyester embroidery threads. They were all 40 weight, but I think it would be tons of fun to use some heavier threads as well. In another piece that I am working on sporadically, I couched down fine rat tail cording and embroidery floss for extra texture.
You are right - endless applications!
