I have a newer machine with my fancy stitch buttons there. My machine came with an extra spool pin for twin needle sewing. I'll never use it so I cut the spool pin off the base and glued one of those wrist pin cushions to the base and installed it where the extra spool pin would go next to my bobbin winder. I do need to remove it to fill my bobbins so l mostly use a side winder.
