A picture would help (we like pictures). I'm guessing that it may look something like http://wwwsrc.thriftyfun.com/_genera...?id=tf97193085 A picture of the bobbin winder would help, also. I think that if the bobbin winder is nearer the bed of the machine that the thread from the spool goes over to a guide on the face plate then diagonally over to the the lower part of the winder and then up through more guides to the bobbin. Many of the long shuttle bobbins are very similar and would give a general idea of how to wind and thread.

From what I've read, your machine would be a machine badged by Gambles Department Store. It more than likely was actually made by National Sewing Machine Company.
